Canaria Technologies’ vision is to become the global leader in the emerging field of predictive biometrics systems. Canaria Technologies uses highly accurate predictive biometric systems for dual real-time prediction of heat exhaustion and cognitive fatigue in the resources sector.
Fatigue currently accounts for two-thirds of all industrial accidents in Australia with more than 30,000 fatigue-related accidents reported each year, while heat exhaustion is a global issue costing an average of AU$41B per annum globally and resulting in on average 144 fatalities each year.
Canaria Technologies’ vision is to become the global leader in the emerging field of predictive biometrics systems. The team behind Canaria Technologies are pioneering the next-generation of industrial safety equipment able to predict heat exhaustion and cognitive fatigue events in real-time.
The original concept behind the Canaria Predictive Biometrics Platform was conceived for use by NASA aboard the International Space Station to solve the dual problems of hazardous pockets of C02 and a black hole of biometric data. The founders went on to win the NASA Global Award for Best Use of Hardware in 2016.
After identifying opportunities to commercialise their first-generation predictive biometrics system for use on earth in Australian mining sites – some of the world’s most physically challenging environments - the company relocated to Australia in 2017 and has specialised in adapting their equipment for use in the heavy industries over five generations of hardware.
Their latest product, the Canaria-V Earpiece is a medical-grade wearable technology that utilises AI to predict heat exhaustion, cognitive fatigue and man-down events in real-time. Technology and safety come together to accurately predict and reduce the number of life-threatening situations occurring across mine sites.
Canaria is now recognised as the leader in the emerging field of predictive biometrics. This potentially life-saving technology has been trialed and rolled out globally with companies such as Territory Generation, Byrnecut and Rio Tinto.
