RawMatter focuses on IoT and Robotic Automation, practicing “no bullshit innovation”. RawMatter builds custom solutions for small trade companies, including developing an IoT hydraulic telemetry system to enable safe monitoring of excavators used in hydraulic testing; a tele-operated jack hammer; predictive maintenance record keeping; and through a collaboration with Soundelve and Game City, an autonomous coffee delivery robot.
While big businesses with big brand names have big budgets to attract technical staff and consultants, for smaller trade companies, “nerds” can be in short supply.
The challenge is that these small companies support the goliaths, and valuable innovation could be just a minor change away. If only they had the resources to identify opportunities.
Through solving the techincal challenges of small trade companies, Raw Matter helps them unlock these opportunities.
RawMatter focuses on Internet of Things (IoT) and Robotic Automation, building custom solutions for small trade companies.
Raw Matter's path to scale is to aggregate these solutions to provide products fit-for-use by other small trade companies in the resources sector.
The company is currently working on a range of products.
An IoT hydraulic telemetry system. It keeps staff out of the line of fire when hydraulic testing and helps them comply with mandates from their primary client, while giving them greater insight into faults.
A tele-operated demolition -hammer. This off-the-shelf product currently comes with a poor user interface and mediocre reach making it less than ideal for precision demolition use cases. Raw Matter is working with a client to improve the usability of this tool. The goal is to keep staff away from risky operations and allow new types of demolition previously considered unsafe.
Predictive maintenance record keeping. Back-office record keeping can be resource intensive – and a bit of a pain. Raw Matter is working with a client to automate their PD records, saving up to 15 hours a week. In the future, the company will connect this to an IoT system to provide real-time predictive maintenance reports so clients can rapidly respond to maintenance issues.
Autonomous coffee delivery robot: Through a collaboration with Soundelve and Game City, Raw Matter has been developing Perth’s first autonomous coffee delivery robot. This robot has been operating for several months bringing delight to customers every day. Future extensions of this will investigate autonomous coffee machine operation with robotic arms.
For small trade contractors supporting the resources sector, there is no time or money for corporate style innovation teams to work their magic. But it's not ok to leave our small trade contractors behind. Raw Matter practices no baloney innovation to help smaller tradies compete with the big guys with technology.
The company follows three guiding principles:
Prototype fast: From remote excavator monitoring tools to remotely operated jackhammers Raw Matter finds the shortest path to something you can see and feel.
No Powerpoint: Raw Matter doesn’t try and wow clients with flashy power points or techno jibber jabber. It just does what it says it will do.
They listen: The people behind at Raw Matter is not here to show you how smart they are. They listen and then get the job done.
Raw Matter is building a future where small trade companies based in Perth set the standard for small business innovation globally.
