Roborigger provides a new way of thinking about lifting and logistics operations - where people make the decisions and become the controllers and machines do the physical work.

Moving large pieces of equipment or materials around a construction or mining site using a crane can be very challenging and depending on the conditions, can at times be exceptionally unsafe.

Additionally, when a crane lifts an object, the wind and momentum can cause the load to swing around making it unpredictable and unstable.

The current method of controlling the load is with taglines, which are simply long ropes attached to the load handled by ground personnel. While taglines help mitigate some of the risk, there are still considerable safety concerns operating a crane in even mild conditions. The taglines can still move in the wind, catch on structures, and potentially place personnel in precarious positions trying to catch the taglines at height to control the load.

Working on the principle that if people are not near the loads, they cannot be injured, Roborigger dispenses with the need for riggers to use taglines or to be anywhere near the loads by controlling and orienting the load wirelessly with a remote control until it is landed.

Using the same technology that keep drones stable when flying, Roborigger accurately rotates and holds loads in a specific position regardless of wind during the entire lifting and lowering task.

By eliminating taglines and making lifting and positioning loads safer and quicker, Roborigger boosts the productivity of crane operations by 10-30% and greatly extends the operating window for lifting loads with large windage.

Roborigger has full internet connectivity in each device, so operators can see online what has been lifted and where and know the weight of each load. The system also takes a photo of the load from every lift and set down, instantaneously.

The team has also developed a range of wireless operated hooks so that when the load is lowered down into position, the load can be released wirelessly via remote control. This is going to be especially useful when putting loads on supply boats or if workers are lowering loads into positions with limited or unsafe access. Roborigger is a must-have for companies that want to improve the safety and efficiency of operations on site.

Roborigger’s revolutionary product has seen the company achieve rapid growth from start up to scale up with multiple Platinum awards won at the WA Innovator of the Year programme in 2019 to Series A investment by Blackbird Ventures in 2020.
