Having worked across the full spectrum of the resources sector, Director Brett Ellacott identified a clear gap in the capture and transfer of critical task information from front-line workers. This delay in critical task reporting, in one case resulted in an estimated throughput loss of $8.9 million (104,000 tonnes of Iron Ore). Moreover, this delay in task capture and reporting hampers the efforts of real-time data analytics and automation is made near impossible without real-time task information. 

Taking the social media concepts and principles of connectedness and live information sharing and applying them to onsite task management, Tan Ninety developed the 1Task app; a paperless task collaboration platform for the blue-collar workforce that enables efficient task reporting coupled with collaboration communications and information sharing.

1Task completely replaces the outdated but often used paper and PDF reporting with a data rich, collaborative and real-time mobile application. The app allows front-line staff to access their tasks from any location and then provide progress updates, photos, critical information and real-time completion, while they work. All stakeholders of the site are able to access the information and like, comment or contribute to tasks, creating seamless communication and collaboration at every level.

This versatile tool uses principles that most people are already familiar with, making adoption rates of the software high among workers at every level of the business. Successful implementation of the app has already seen major tier-1 mining organisations integrate 1Task into maintenance inspections, shutdown execution, asset integrity and engineering assessments. 

Tan Ninety to date has over 10,000 real-world tasks completed, more than 95,000 photos uploaded to the platform, and tier-1 mining companies reporting up to a 75% reduction in administration time.
